Situated in Carson City, Nevada, the Nevada State Railroad Museum holds a significant role in preserving the rich railroad heritage of the state. It boasts an impressive collection of locomotives and cars from the renowned Virginia and Truckee Railroad. The museum’s vast array of equipment was acquired from various Hollywood studios, where they had been utilized in numerous film and television productions. Under the management of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the museum officially opened its doors in 1980 as the Virginia & Truckee Railroad Museum, commonly referred to as the V&T Railroad Museum. The “Box” opened their doors on May 10th, 1980 and has been perking along ever since. Over the last 33 years owner Jerry Massad has kept one thing in mind; serve the best breakfast around. The Box has done just that, and is still doing it every day, lunch too.

Coming from a long line of restaurateurs, Jerry wouldn’t have it any other way. The place was a lot smaller back in 1980, seating just 24 people. Jerry cooked and there was just one waitress. The place is bigger now, but the quality remains the same. Read more…
